About the Data Analytics Center
Executive Order 1061, establishing the DA-PhilRice charter, marks a significant commitment to advancing rice production in the Philippines. Central to this initiative is the National Rice Research for Development (R4D) Program, which aims to harness collaborative efforts from a wide range of stakeholders, including the Department of Agriculture, regional field offices, academic institutions, local government bodies, private sector entities, NGOs, international organizations, and farmer groups. Through the successful implementation of its Strategic Plan 2017-2022, DA-PhilRice significantly expanded its influence and achieved positive outcomes across rice and rice-based farming communities nationwide.
Building on this success, a comprehensive strategic plan spanning 2023-2028 has been carefully crafted to leverage cutting-edge science and technology. This plan aims to cultivate thriving rice farming communities and ensure an ample and affordable rice supply for all. DA-PhilRice's specific objectives focus on enhancing productivity and profitability, improving the safety, affordability, and nutritional value of rice, and ensuring the stability of rice supply.
Achieving these ambitious goals requires the establishment of a pivotal information system dedicated to fostering a resilient and sustainable rice industry. In support of this, the Data Analytics Center (DAC) has been established.
The DAC will serve as a proficient unit in leveraging data-driven methodologies to produce precise and contextually relevant insights. By integrating data from various internal and external sources, the center will synthesize actionable intelligence, enhancing decision-making quality and ensuring alignment with the dynamic agricultural environment. Consequently, this initiative promotes sustainable growth, resilience, and progress within the rice industry.
